How to make your sunless tan last longer

What you do before and after your sunless tan is extremely important because doing the wrong things can cause your sunless tan to fade or simply wash away.
Choose a salon with a sunless tanning consultant or technician who has several years of experience at using sunless tanning products because they should also be able to give you recommendations so that your sunless tan is flawless and last longer.

The sunless tanning products you use should not contain any harmful or toxic chemicals, dyes, alcohol, additives, perfumes, or artificial colors. At Troy Richard Salon we have sourced out only the purest form of all of ingredients that will deliver results unsurpassed by any other tanning solution on the market called Bronze Biologic. You leave the salon with a beautiful, golden bronze tan that will last for days.

What you do BEFORE the Sunless Tanning Application:
DO NOT tan after 8pm because the tan can stain your hands while sleeping.

• Exfoliate with a washcloth or use the recommended skin products of the technician (this is not mandatory but will help).
• DO NOT use any body lotion, body cream, make up, or perfume the day you will be tanning.
• DO NOT put on any under arm deodorant (powders or lotions).
• Wear dark, loose fitting clothing. (NO tight fitting clothing, socks, or tight fitting shoe apparel). Cotton clothing is optimal.
• Bring a bathing suit, underwear or other suitable tanning attire.

What you do AFTER the Sunless Tanning Application:
Once your tan is applied, allow it to dry completely, (the technician will ensure that your application is dry).

• Any minor bronze rub-off will easily wash out of most fabrics.
• DO NOT wet your skin for at least 6 hours after the tanning session.
• No shower of bath for at least 6 hours. (It is best to wait until the next morning) Your tan will last longer.
• DO NOT exercise or perspire excessively until the next day after your tan.
• Avoid touching or rubbing any tanned areas excessively.
• When you do take your first shower or bath, DO NOT scrub your body with a rough wash cloth. (Use hand and soap only)
• When showering or bathing DO NOT be concerned if some of the initial bronzer washes off - that is normal
• DO NOT exfoliate the skin for 7 days after tanning.
• Using a moisturizer is recommended to extend the tanning results.
• Your tan will naturally fade over a period of days. (Each tan should last about 7 to 10 days)

Additional steps you can take to make your sunless tan last longer:

1. Wait at least 8-10 hours before washing the tanning formula off.
2. Apply moisturizer morning and evening after your post-tan shower (avoid moisturizers with AHA because they promote exfoliation).
3. Avoid long hot showers and baths, and scrubbing the skin excessively. Pat your skin dry after bathing and showering.
4. Chlorine in swimming pools and hot tubs can remove or shorten the longevity of your tan.
5. Take care when exercising as friction and excess sweat may cause your tan to fade prematurely or unevenly.
6. Be sure to use one of your after-tan extenders. (Ask your tanning consultant which sunless tan extender product is best for you).
